Rule 10: Remember, You’re Going to Die.

Drawing of St. Peter drawn by the author.

Do it because it is powerful.

When you are aware that you will die, you don’t let opportunities slip away.

When you are aware that you will die, you don’t get bitter about silly things.

When you are aware that you will die, you focus on your goals and being happy.

When you know that you will die, you do not let resentment, anger, or rage guide your steps.

When a family member bothers you, you move on because you know that your time is valuable.

When your partner leaves you, you move on because you know your time is valuable.

When you get fired, look for another job and start over instead of regretting it because you know your time is valuable.

Your time is valuable, and you don’t have to waste it with the wrong people.

Being aware of your mortality will help you appreciate things more, savor every meal, and contemplate every sunrise for what it is: a miracle.

And if you find it hard to pull yourself out of negativity when a shitstorm comes into your life. Try putting this quote from psychologist and holocaust survivor Viktor Frankl into practice,

“Live as if you were living for the second time and as if you had acted the first time as wrongly as you are about to act now.”

And do it better this time 😉

Daily rule: Remember that your time is limited, and your goal is to make the most of it and avoid spending it bitterly. Don’t argue over nonsense. Don’t waste your time with those who don’t listen to you. Instead, go ahead, enjoy every second, and be happy.
