Your energy diminishes during the day. If you want to dedicate the maximum of your potential to something, the best thing you can do is doing first.
So start your day with the task that costs you the most. That activity is usually the most important one.
You know it is a task that demands responsibility and your brain continuously tries to postpone it.
Mark Twain once said, “Eat a live frog first thing in the morning, and nothing worse than that will happen to you the rest of the day.”
Twain’s phrase was taken as a central concept by Brian Tracy in his book Eat that Frog.
The frog represents the most important task you face in your working day. That task will generate the greatest return on your time, energy, and attention investment. That task generates the most profit for you.
For me, it’s writing an article. That’s my frog. And the first thing I do every day is eaten it. So I get out of bed, meditate, practice the Win Hoff method, put on a cup of coffee, go to my desk and write my daily article.
That article is my foundation. I do it full of energy and concentration so that my articles are always of the highest possible quality. I deliver my best when my mind is still fresh.
The advantages of eating the frog first.
- You will be fresh and will focus more on the task.
- Your brain has time throughout the day to renew its attention span and energy by first performing the most demanding task.
- Your head will be free of worries.
- You will have fewer distractions throughout the day.
- You will be more motivated. Completing your main task at the beginning of the day makes you feel like you accomplished something important.
- It allows you to use your willpower to accomplish new goals.
When you make it a habit to do your main tasks first, you no longer need willpower. Instead, you only have to sit down and work.
Use your extra willpower to do other things like going to the gym.
