When life hits you hard, there are only two ways.
The way of the enslave and the way of the warrior.
If you choose the path of the enslave, you will be a prisoner of fear and your circumstances.
If you choose the path of the warrior, you will take stock of your weapons (which are not few: experience, intelligence, and resources) and face the battle.
And yes, I know it is not easy. But… Look, let me tell you something…
There is a song by Andrés Calamaro, which starts like this,
“Attached to your empty bottle,
that one that always tasted like nothing before
Squeezing my fingers,
clutching me,
giving my life
to that avalanche stopper”.
It perfectly defined me 10 years ago: a lost and wounded guy wanting to end it all.
A guy clutching an empty bottle. A guy who couldn’t get enough of anything.
Until one day, my grandfather died. And that was it.
No more complaining and no more hurting. No more ruining my life. (He was looking down on me from heaven, I couldn’t hide anymore).
Since then, I’ve dug myself out of every hole.
It’s not that I’m tougher than Chuck Norris. I’m just a guy who stood up and said,
“That’s it!”
“Enough is enough!”
And I don’t know what your avalanche is today.
But I do know that your empty bottle (whatever it is: junk food, nicotine, alcohol) isn’t going to stop it.
The wound isn’t going to stop bleeding if you don’t stand UP STRAIGHT and start fighting.
So throw the empty bottle in the recycling bin and start walking.
You can do it.
Look, the other day, I read to a reader (because I read you guys on the sly 🙂 a sentence that I loved: “In soccer, as in life, you can do two things: score goals or stand by and watch others score them.”
And the fact is that the goals will be scored anyway, why not you?
It’s your turn to win. You know it.
A virtual hug
