Don’t abandon yourself again to be with someone who doesn’t value it.

Please don’t do it now that you’ve learned your lesson.

Remember…

Few will ever understand the battles you had to face to become who you are.

A life at war was the price of your peace.

That’s why you don’t negotiate with emotional terrorists.

That’s why you no longer pay ransoms nor allow yourself to be manipulated.

That’s why you don’t settle for the first person who knocks on your door promising friendship.

Loyalty, proven daily, is not a matter of intensity but of durability.

For better or for worse, you discovered that having you, you have everything. You don’t need anything else.

You learned it the hard way after giving yourself entirely so that others could be saved.

And you no longer fall into that trap.

You no longer put your back on others to use you as a stepping stone, jump over walls, and leave without giving you a hand to help you pass.

You are not bad, and you help whenever you can help. But now you know you have to prioritize yourself.

There was a time when, like every human being, you needed a shoulder to cry on.

As Van Gogh wrote, “Like everyone else, you need family, friends, affection, and friendly encounters. You are not made of iron or stone, like a hydrant or a lamp post”; you are a human being and heart.

But…

Because you have been alone so much, you have learned to keep yourself company. And now, you seek the silence that used to hurt you.

Now you need you. Much more than you need others.

And that bothers and makes uncomfortable some people because you are no longer there for everyone all the time —always available for anyone who asks you for a favor.

You no longer need their approval, their acceptance.

You need you, and they don’t understand that, but that’s their problem.

It was their mistake to underestimate you.

They pushed you away, left you as a second fiddle, and sat you on the sidelines, looking for something better.

And now that they’re coming back into your life, they find that you weren’t waiting for them in the corner.

And it bothers them; it bothers them a lot 🙂

It bothers them that you have discovered the superhero hidden inside you—that Batman side, born in your darkest moments when no one helped you, and now not afraid of the night, much less of all those Jokers who pretended to wish you well.

A virtual hug.
