There’s no need to pretend you’re fine if you’re not.

It’s better to be honest and acknowledge that you’re broken into pieces.

But you have to try to put them back together.

There’s no use in lamenting.

“I wish I had listened to my parents more.”

“I wish I had valued their company before I lost it.”

“I wish I had dared to take advantage of that opportunity.”

“I wish I had told him how much I loved him before he went to the other side of the sun.”

I wish, I wish… I wish.

You didn’t. And now you have to live with it (That’s usually the penance).

And yes… you can feel bad.

But you must do your part to move on, or you’ll feed your cycle of regret again.

Cycle of regret

  1. I don’t care about or value X or G thing.
  2. I lose or destroy X or G thing.
  3. I regret losing or destroying the X or G thing.
  4. I don’t feel well, I don’t care for, or value Z or Y thing.
  5. The cycle starts all over again.

There is a time in life when you have to do like in the war movies when the submarine is hit by a torpedo: A damage report.

Your damage report may look something like this.

  1. Broken heart.
  2. Decayed morale.
  3. Touched self-esteem.
  4. Hope to the ground.
  5. Excessive pressure level.
  6. Weakened dignity.
  7. Need more hope.
  8. Faith in critical condition.

And then take control to repair that damage with a “This is the captain speaking” that commands your crew.

Because your thoughts are your head’s crew, they all have to pull together and collaborate for the same purpose.

And to those negative thoughts that run riot, you say, “You are relieved of command, sailor,” and continue to recover from the impact that almost sank the submarine of your life.

Do it today because between living surrounded by distractions and having a million obligations competing for your attention, you may forget the most essential thing: prioritizing yourself.

And if you don’t have you, you’ll end up with nothing.

Remember: in a world where success is measured by how much stuff we have, we tend to forget that if there’s no “Me” to enjoy them, there’s no “wealth” to tap into.

So, rebuild yourself on the inside.

It’s much more important than you think.

Look, think about what you look like on the inside.

Already?

Well for now, realize that you are 1) what you think and 2) the one who thinks it.

And in turn 3) all the reality that surrounds you because the world you perceive would be extinguished without you.

Ergo, you are both a thinker, thought, and perception.

So don’t sink my little submarine; the world shuts down if you don’t exist.

A virtual hug
