Chasing the wrong dream makes you live a life you don’t want, that is not yours, and that makes you terribly unhappy.
And on top of that, it is unrealistic.
Because you pursue a model of life that only exists in Fanta ads (Fanta-sy :-).
That’s why avoiding wanting to fit into the wrong puzzle is essential.
Since the frustration that comes with life, you will suffer the same, no matter what you do.
My unsolicited advice today is to dedicate yourself to something you love, so that frustration does not crush you; it motivates you.
How do you do that?
By understanding these 6 quick lessons.
- Success is not a place to get to. It is an emotional state that makes you appreciate your processes and present. Stop thinking of success as the top of a mountain and focus on enjoying the climb (to the proper mountain, to what you love).
- If you are unhappy and do not do new things, you will never be satisfied. Happiness is changeable throughout life. What made you happy a decade ago probably doesn’t make you happy now. It’s the same with food: there are some dishes that you’ve eaten so much that you’ve become bored with them. But others that you had never tried before, you love today. Moral: try new things if you feel down, until you find your new dish of happiness 🙂
- You try to avoid pain so you don’t evolve. In the words of Padre Pio, “To grow we need hard bread: crosses, contradictions, trials”. Without adversity you cannot grow. Lesson: You do not have to avoid adversity but also go out to meet it.
- What people will say is the main trigger for your self-sabotage. When you get older, let’s not kid ourselves; you know what you want and don’t want. And if you don’t do it, it’s for fear of being pointed at or becoming a social pariah. And I won’t kid you; you can become one (I know firsthand). But the problem is that you’re only going to live once. Suppose you don’t get down to doing what makes you tick, or you self-sabotage yourself by making a thousand excuses and mental impediments. In that case, you’ll end up dead at [Insert your age here], even if you’re buried at 90.
- It’s not about overthinking but about experiencing. If the meaning of life were theoretical, this would not be a 3D world; you would not have a body, wouldn’t you? Therefore, the way is experimentation, and after that, the analysis of what has been experienced. The scientific method of all life is to take small, controlled risks, live different experiences, and then evaluate.
- What separates you from the life of your dreams is not the obstacles; it is your laziness in facing them. Look, all those things you tell yourself that you don’t do this because XYZ reason, is nothing more than noise. The “X” and the “Y” and the “Z”- whatever it is for you- is the path you have to follow to achieve your goals. Maybe it’s learning a new skill or starting to delegate. I don’t know, but it’s the way; it’s always the way. Objections = the way to go.
All that stuff you don’t want to do or learn is what you have to do or learn to become the person you want to be 😉
