The Disturbing Life Lesson I Learned From Reading the Bible That I Wish I Had Known at 20

Millennial wisdom for today’s life.

Sometimes, it’s not about things making sense; it’s about the reason you make things.

In my twenties, I did it all the wrong way.

I remember those years as living constantly with my glasses fogged up. My gaze distorted everything I did: good things seemed terrible and boring, and bad things seemed to me to be typical of my age and exciting.

A mistake that almost cost me my life.

Everything improved when I cleaned my glasses of mist and began to see clearly. — It took me more than ten years to do so.

I would have done it sooner if I had understood a small passage in the bible.

That’s why I want to share it with you.

The Disturbing Lesson from the bible

“How can ye, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.” — Jesus of Nazareth.

This short paragraph from the Gospel of Matthew contains a question and three keywords; let’s start with the words.

  • Heart: The heart desires. It is a chest that contains a treasure. The soil that houses the seeds that will sprout when life waters them.
  • Treasure: The heart’s treasure is its desires (the seeds of the fruits you will obtain). — And these can be good and bad.
  • Mouth: the word is the one that manifests your reality because it becomes action and is born from the treasure that your heart holds: your desires.

As it also says in the bible, “Ask, and it will be given to you.” So, if you ask for things from the treasure of evil, you will get tragedies.

And if you ask for things from the treasury of good (good desires), you will obtain well-being.

Because the consequences of our desires are the fruits of the tree of life, our heart. Capichi?

Jesus’ question.

Jesus says, “How can you speak good, being evil?

And it makes perfect sense. How can you harvest pears if you plant apples?
You can’t.

Your desires are the seeds; there are only two kinds of seeds because reality is dual: good seeds and bad seeds.

But be careful: you can get rotten fruits when you do supposedly good things for the wrong reasons.

Building a house with gold (good treasure) will be majestic. If you do it with poop (evil treasure), it will stink 🙂

The intention is more important than the action.

When I was exercising after quitting alcohol, I wasn’t exercising for a healthy body; I was exercising to get laid. Which led me to,
 dating a lot.

  • I wasted a lot of money.
  • I got a call from someone who might have given me syphilis.
  • I had to get tested for venereal diseases (fortunately, I didn’t have any).
    Good thing: working out.

The intention behind going to the gym was to be promiscuous (bad seed from the evil treasure).

So, the lousy desire for healthy activities corrupted the good of those activities.

(I built it with poop instead of gold 🙂

Cleanse your heart because they are the glasses of your soul.

Whatever you do in life, make sure you have a good motive because a) it is easier to be forgiven when you are wrong if your intention was good, and b) you will live better.

You cannot have peace of mind if you have bad intentions. And not only because the bad conscience does not let you sleep, but because your desires and wishes are evil, you will consequently reap misfortunes.

I know it seems obvious, but let’s go back to the saying that you cannot harvest pears (good things) if you sow seeds of forbidden apples (evil desires).

It would be best to have pear seeds (good desires) to harvest pears (good things).

There is no other way.

Takeaway

If life is going badly for you, start reviewing why you do things.

  • Maybe you want to make money for the wrong reasons.
  • Maybe you want to lose weight for the wrong reasons.
  • Maybe you want to become famous for the wrong reasons.

And the worst thing of all is that dreams come true.

And suppose you materialize an excellent reality, like being a millionaire, having a fit body, and going around the world taking selfies for Instagram for the wrong reason. In that case, you will know what the hell is.

Because the worst hell of all (I tell you from experience) is having it all and feeling bad.

Since, in the end, you spend your money on things that destroy you.

So clean your heart and plant good seeds (Build with the gold of your heart, not with poop 🙂

A virtual hug
