All we do in life is about avoiding suffering. But avoiding suffering usually leads us to more pain.
Being spiritual is more challenging than people think.
Initially, it’s a path of pain and shame most of the time.
You start seeing things with clear eyes because you stop cheating yourself.
And it takes time to accept all the bad things you did along the way.
That’s why many people give up the spiritual path and fall back into their old bad habits.
They can’t manage the stress and the guilt.
If this is your case, focus on improving these three things, And you’ll succeed on your spiritual path.
1. Practice detachment

All we do in life is about avoiding suffering.
- Have a successful career.
- Be in love.
- Make tons of money.
However, in the long run, avoiding suffering usually leads us to experience more pain.
Because, sometimes, we lose our jobs, our partners, and even our money.
And we aren’t used to living jobless, alone, and broke.
Remember, good moments come and go; suffering is inevitable.
That’s why it is so helpful to practice detachment. Because, one day, you are going to lose everything you love.
It’s a matter of time. You better be prepared.
1. Train your adaptability

People don’t have thoughts; thoughts have people.
Everything in your brain is a mix of ideas you obtain from outside.
There are two primary sources,
- Your social environment (work, family, news, social media)
- The subconscious collective (epiphanies you get in the shower, while walking through nature, or in a dream)
The better your ideas, the better your future. So if your life sucks, change your exposure to your social environment by,
- Hanging out with new folks.
- Switching of the TV news.
- Consuming high-quality content.
And connect more with the subconscious collective by being more present.
The universe sends the best ideas to people in tune with it.
3. Forgive yourself

It´s absolutely normal to feel shame and guilt when you look back.
Brian Welch, one of the initial members of the nu-metal group Korn, in an interview, said, “I had to learn to forgive myself, I had to learn to forgive my parents, I did wrong to many people, I went door to door saying forgive me, even to those who hurt me because I wanted to be free.”
Forgiveness sets you free.
Brian lived a life of excess as a rock star, but he realized the new Brian wasn’t the evil Brian anymore. And the key was to make peace with god, his family, and himself.
Listen to me carefully: the person you are today is not the same person that did the wrong shit in your life. That’s why you feel shame: you are not the same person anymore. And that’s good news.
Because if you persist in your spiritual growth, you’ll never return to your darkness.
Let’s shine 🙂
