As You Awaken, the More “Unsexy” Your Life Becomes

(At least the mundane one.)

I’m 13 years old. I’m at the bus station in Salamanca. I put my hand in a machine like the one in the movie Big. I get a little piece of paper that says: “You will have an interesting life, but you will be poor.” 🙁

I take the bus with the Boys Scouts to celebrate the Scouts of Europe meeting in Bosnia Herzegovina. When I get there, the war breaks out, and I lose my wallet with the money my parents gave me.

I look at the little piece of paper, and I say f*ck 🙂

My life has been like that since then, continuously coming and going from hell.

Until I hit rock bottom by living Fast & Furious.

I was reborn from my ashes, and my life was changing for the better: 1st, purging myself and 2nd stabilizing myself.

But the process led me to live a mundane life that my former friends would call unsexy.

And all those who start on the spiritual path go through the same thing for three reasons.

1. Attracting what you want implies repelling everything else.

When you awaken to evolve, you vibrate at a different frequency. And that makes you attract all kinds of serendipities that heal your life but repel your friends.

You know what friends I mean, the good old boys from the bar, the gang of folks you used to love and be part of.

I remember the last time I talked to my group of friends; it was in the Whatsapp group; they invited me to go to the casino to play poker; I told them I couldn’t because I had to get up early to go to the mountain, one of them wrote me “You used to be cool, man. Now you suck.”

Still hurt.

Lesson: the more awakened your consciousness is, the more it attracts what it needs to evolve, and that means repelling everything that blocks your spiritual path, even if that rocks are your friends 🙁

2. Everyone thinks you are crazy.

When you wake up spiritually, you do many things that indirectly lead to a healthier life and, consequently, a much clearer brain.

Yoga, meditation, eating more vegetables than meat, cold showers, and walking barefoot in the grass will make you look crazy, but they will make you saner than most.

And then you discover to your horror, that it is a society that is crazy, not you.

Think about this,

  • Eating salad is less sexy than eating burgers.
  • Drinking water is less sexy than drinking sugary sodas.
  • Exercising every day is less sexy than playing video games.
  • Practicing meditation is less sexy than watching Netflix.
  • Going to church, the ashram, or the forest is less sexy than getting drunk at the bar.

Lesson: Hell has more fans than Heaven because there are more fun and special effects, but you prefer Heaven, your peace of mind. And that’s unsexy but works.

3. Your brain starts working again.

You can’t do crazy things anymore to look cool when you know that those things are hurting your soul and brain. And that makes you unsexy for those who don’t want to evolve.

I love this quote from Dr. Amen, “Your brain is the organ of intelligence, character, and every single decision you make. And when your brain works right, you work right. And when your brain is not right, you are sadder, sicker, poorer: less successful.”

I love it because the only conclusion is that real success is unsexy to the majority.

Because you don’t damage your brain doing all the sh*t you used to do, like drinking, smoking, or f*cking with the first stranger you look at the bar.

And for many people who don’t do it is being a loser.

Yeah, the world is mad 🙂

That’s why they say the road to the top is so lonely. Because most don’t make it, most stay in their unhealthy but sexy lives. And only a few dare to climb the mountain of success, which is economical and spiritual.

Lesson: You are not mad. You are on the right way. Even if you feel your life is less sexy, boring, and lonely sometimes, spiritual success is like a lonely climb up the mountain.

I’ll see you at the top.

  1. Then my whole life has been unsexy lol ..To others of course… whaaaat your crazy! You dont EVER Drink or Smoke? Nope… even when you went to clubs when you were younger.. Yep.. Never drank.. I was designated driver for my friends… and I got to dance for 3 hours 2 night a week (my exercise at the time) because i Had a full time job at 18m went to college full time, and when i was 21 my mother had a baby (my half sister) who i raised with my two sons a few years later. I graduated college.. and raised my kids, then started my career. the last time I ever had a drink was new years 1997. I had a glass of wine here and there with friends at home.. but i haven’t drank a thing since 1997. For one i found out i was highly allergic to most alcohol which explained the massive headaches i would get after one drink. and because i am high energy and laugh and smile all the time.. people at parties think i am drinking anyways lol 😀 and when they find out I’m not.. they cant believe you can have that much fun sober lol… (people have to many hang ups with doing things out of the norm like dancing without drinking) … I enjoy myself everyday.. i dance to good music whenever i hear it.. in the car.. in the store grocery shopping.. at work… I laugh at life.. because i find it humorous… I dont stress about many things… because what will in matter tomorrow or a month from now or even a year from now… if it cost extra money like i just found out i owe 1000 dollars to the hospital i went to last year from may car accident after all the insurance dust settled… do i care? nope… i will figure it out.. weather i pay monthly or dip into savings.. dont caare. still paying off my weight loss clinic from last year… and now looking for a new gym for the new area I am in….. i havent decided if it will be rowing class or hot yoga lol 😀 either way it will be expensive…oh well.. its only… just bought a house… I like to hike, travel,, have a new job that i will succeed at… they covered my time out for the flu.. and only been here less then 2 months lol… Universe provides for what you need.. not what yo want… so if that is unsexy sign me up…i have lost so many people along the way on this path and i could caare less… does it initially hurt… sure… but if you look at it from the universal side… they were just holding you back from greatness.. and that doesnt mean being a millionaire… that is just living life the way you want in peace.

    1. I have not been drinking for I think 7 years. You are right, the universe gives us what we need, no more, no less.

I remember a passage in the biography of Mother Teresa, that when she left the convent of Loreto, she only had a train ticket and five rupees on top.

Thank you for every comment, Adewyn, I hope you are well my friend.
