Three Subtle Signs Someone Is Using You

#2 — They treat you as a fan, not as a friend.

Sometimes life feels like a party where little by little, everyone turns their back on you until you’re left dancing alone in the crowd.

And from personal experience, that hurts so much that your need for acceptance makes you easy prey for all kinds of emotional vampires.

People who pretend to appreciate you to profit from your loneliness.
How do you recognize them?

Here are three signs that will help you identify them 🙂

Let’s start

1. They use you as an umbrella person

Because you are a good person, you tend to think that your friends tell you their problems because they trust and value your advice.
But this is only sometimes the case.

Many people only come to you on their stormy days.
But they reserve their sunny days (their happiness) for anyone but you.

You are there to be the umbrella that shelters them from the storm. You are there to comfort them in the bad times. To dry their tears. To bear their grievances. For all the bad.

But for the good, they never call you. They never remember to tell you to go to that barbecue. To that concert. That vacation.

They don’t want to mix their social circles, they tell you. But deep down, they don’t want to bring the tissue where they wipe their snot and purge their miseries to the dance.

Conclusion: they use you as a throwaway Kleenex.

2. They treat you as a fan, not as a friend

The most graphic image would be the group of girls in high school movies, where all the group members laugh thanks to the dancing queen.

Because that’s why they have you so that you can applaud their jokes, and they can make others see how important they are at the expense of your attention.

They don’t want a friend; they want a fan.

They think of you as a car dashboard puppy toy that always shakes its head in the affirmative.

Try to contradict this kind of people, and you will see for yourself.

Conclusion: You have to laugh and clap your hands like a seal in Seaworld so that they allow you to be next to them. If you stop doing so, they will condemn you to indiference. They will even pretend not to know you.

3. They let you know your place in their lives. (And it’s not a good place)

These people, who pretend to be your friends to take advantage of you, are usually so selfish that they think they are the God Sun.

And they need everyone to orbit around their light.

But deep down, they behave like an anti-mosquito lamp, and if you get too close, they shock you: they tell you where your place is.

Which is usually at their feet.

For it, they use different strategies like,

  • Correct you continuously.
  • To make you look ignorant in front of others.
  • To laugh at you publicly.
  • Making you less every time they have the opportunity.

Conclusion: they do not treat you as a friend but as their pet, and they may reward you from time to time, but they do it to tame and reinforce something that you have done for them and that they are interested in.
