Let yourself be surprised by the thinking of a genius.
The longest road I ever took was 14 inches: the distance between my brain and my heart.
It was a long road, but as Thomas Mann wrote in The Magic Mountain, “When we travel a road for the first time, it seems much longer than when it is familiar to us.”
I like to read Jung because he encourages me to walk that path repeatedly. And it costs less 😉
That’s why I want to share three quotes from his book Synchronicity to help you reconnect the mind with the heart and change your vision of reality.
1. About Reality
“Experiments impose limited conditions, because their objective is to force nature to give answers to the questions posed by man. Therefore nature is conditioned by the kind of question posed.” — Carl Gustav Jung.
The observer psychologically conditions the study of reality since the nature studied only responds to the individual’s questions.
And this makes me think that we miss things.
In the same way that a dog hears a broader range of sound than a human being, we may miss parts of reality that other consciousnesses can see.
The good part is that we can expand our consciousness as we evolve spiritually.
And therefore, the higher the level of consciousness, the greater the range of perception, and the better questions we will ask as individuals, and consequently, the more we will know.
2. On what is possible and what is not
“What is possible in any age depends on its rational criteria.” — Carl Gustav Jung.
Jules Verne predicted the trip to the moon, the submarine, and the helicopter, although, in his time, no one thought space travel was possible.
Let us remember that there was a time when those who claimed that the earth was round were burned at the stake.
That is why the prejudices of each era are so important: they delimit the reality of their time.
You cannot live in any reality that the collective unconscious cannot imagine.
Therefore, breaking with the prejudices of what can and cannot be done is synonymous with evolution.
That is why it is interesting to observe the avant-garde in all fields, from art to technology, because everything that we believe impossible today: traveling to other dimensions, living 300 years, or time jumps, can be realities in the future
3. On the relationship between space and time
“In my essay “The Spirit of Psychology” I defined synchronicity as a relativity of space and time conditioned by the mind.” — Carl Gustav Jung.
According to Jung, time and space cannot exist without the objectification of the mind.
According to Jung, time and space serve to describe bodies in motion.
According to Jung, because of all the above, time and space is something relative since it depends on the psychic conditions of each mind.
That is why sometimes we feel that the last office hour lasts a century, and the last free day of the week flies by 🙂
Time speeds up or slows down in our minds, just as our perception of space is intimately related to how it is perceived in the mind.
Recap for the memory
- The greater your awareness, the greater your perception of reality, the better questions you will be able to ask, and the more you will learn about this universe we inhabit.
- If it cannot be imagined, it cannot exist. But if something can be supposed, it is only a matter of time before the necessary technology is developed so that what we imagine becomes a reality.
- Wherever you go, you are always in the same place: inside you. And that is important because depending on how you use your mind, time will speed up or pass slowly and tediously; in the same way, you will understand space in one way or another, according to your mental processes.
I hope these humble reflections make you use your heart and your head so you get used to connecting with yourself more often.
A virtual hug
