Maybe you’re already happy, but you don’t realize it.

Your problem is that you’re asking for a little and looking for it in the wrong place.

You’ve become obsessed with knocking on the wrong door.

And if it doesn’t open… It’s because it’s not your door.

And you can leave your knuckles knocking, it won’t open, and if by chance it does open, don’t be surprised to discover that the happiness you were looking for isn’t there.

If books make you happy, you won’t find happiness in a bar; you’ll have to go to the library or the bookstore, won’t you?

The problem is that in life, everyone goes in the same direction: for the villa with a pool, a vacation in the Bahamas, and a convertible car.

But each person is unique. Therefore, there can be no generic solutions that will satisfy everyone.

In other words, what makes your neighbor happy won’t make you happy.

The opposite may happen: you may get the life everyone says they want, and you may be much unhappier than you are today.

What’s more… You can get the villa, the pool, the car, the vacation, and not only be unhappy but discover, to your astonishment and perplexity, that you were already happy before all that, and you HAD NOT REALIZED it.

This brings me to the following theory…

Maybe you’re already happy, but you don’t realize it.

You may already have everything you need to be happy, but you don’t appreciate it or use it.

Maybe you are already with the people who love you the most and who you will miss the most the day you lose them.

You may be already living the golden age of your life. You will remember that time with nostalgia as the years go by.

You may have to stop looking to the Far East for what was always right in front of your house.

You are where you must be, with whom you must be, and instead of celebrating and enjoying it, you obsess about a better future full of abundance and material prosperity.

A future that never materializes floats in front of you like the balloon that escapes from the little boy at the fair and, full of helium, rises towards the sun.

A future where you may be rich on the outside but poor on the inside.

A future in which you will not have all the immaterial riches you have today: health, well-being, family, and friends.

A future where all the money in the world will not be able to buy a single hour of the life you have today.

Your problem is not that you ask for too much; you look for it tomorrow, on the outside, everywhere, except where you have to look for it: in the here and now, in your heart.
