Sometimes, we see the true intentions of others when it is too late.

And that is dangerous, particularly with envious people, because the intentions that drive the actions of jealous people are usually aimed at harming you.

Envious people want something you have, and they will make sure to a) be patient enough to stay close to you and b) take advantage of the slightest opportunity to ruin or appropriate what they think they deserve more than you.

You need to be aware of those false friends who secretly envy you. But how?

Here are four subtle signs that someone secretly envy you.

1. They spy on you.

Even when they seem to show no interest in you.

They seem to know more about your life than your mother. They are very interested in learning everything about you because they think you have some secret, that you cheat in some way to be happy or do well.

And they not only want to unmask you but to steal what makes you happy and successful and appropriate it for themselves.

Example: receiving calls on the landline to control when you are and are not at home. Going for walks in the same places to know who you go and don’t go with. Neighbors who watch you to know if your children come to visit you or if you go out in the street with your makeup on or dressed up.

Watch out for this sign: they get into your circle of friends.

Have you started to mysteriously bump into someone on your daily walks?

If you notice that this person is slowly creeping into your personal circle and is badmouthing you behind your back, you should be careful. It may be that this person secretly envies you and wants to steal your friendships.

2. They don’t tell you important things

Even when they know you’ll end up finding out from somewhere else.
People who secretly envy you may have more money, more titles, and a better position than you. Still, they are angry that you have people who appreciate and love you.

And that anger makes them want to sabotage you.

Personal example: my mother’s sisters-in-law don’t tell my mother when they operate on my mother’s brothers (their husbands) to make her look bad.

My mother’s sisters-in-law can’t stand that their husbands have a relationship with their sister (my mother).

Watch out for this sign: they change the subject when an important thing to talk about arises.

Do you have someone in your life who deflects the conversation every time you ask about a third party?

Watch out. Someone is withholding information from you to limit your access, presence, and support to others at essential times; he is trying to make you lose your position in the hierarchy of your family or personal group.

3. They are jealous and possessive

Even when you give them no reason to be.

When people who secretly envy you discover they cannot be you or steal what they want, they try to turn you into their pet.

They want to possess you like someone who owns a car because, in addition to having through you a decaffeinated feeling of being you, they prevent you from relating to others.

In short, they want to suck your happiness, and that you can’t be happy relating to anyone else.

For example, your fake friend gets upset whenever you have a plan.
And if at the end you go with other people to the movies or whatever you have in mind, this kind of fake friend tells you that they have changed their mind, that they want to go, and then, in the middle of the event, they spoil the plan to make you look bad with your friends.

Watch out for this sign: whenever you propose a plan, someone first tries to discourage you, and if you still go with other people, he/she joins the event to ruin it.

Do you have someone who ALWAYS criticizes your plans but then signs up?

Be careful because they will try to sabotage your plans and make you look bad to others, criticizing everything and looking to ally themselves with other friends who probably also secretly envy you to make your plan worse.
They want your plans to go wrong so that people will stop hanging out with you, isolate you, and thus take possession of you.

4. They do whatever they want.

Even when it is grossly unfair.

Fake friends who secretly envy you do not give explanations and make their plans with whom they want and when they want.

They are selfish and demanding of others, and they know it. That’s why they won’t let you do the same to them.

It’s not about you, it’s about them. In short, they want what you have, but they won’t share what they have with you.

For example, they ask your partners and friends for favors. But if you do the same with their personal or family circle, they will make a scandal.

Watch out for this sign: they always want to call the shots and don’t want you to contradict them.

Do you have someone close to you who always asks you for explanations, but when it’s time to give them, they say things like “It’s none of your business?

Be careful because, indeed, that person is a selfish who secretly envies you 😉
