Ancient Persian wisdom that will blow your mind.
Rumi is more than a poet; he is an alchemist of words.
His texts get into your mind and transform the shits you have inside in gold.
He is one of the most famous mystics in history.
The ancient Persian wisdom hidden in his little poems can change how you see the world and interact with reality.
It has happened to me. In particular with these three small but powerful quotes.
On adversity
“How can you become a mirror if you don’t want to polish yourself, if every setback infuriates you?” — Rumi
The universe is not a delicate potter who molds your life like clay on a potter’s wheel with his delicate hands.
The universe is more like a sculptor who takes the rough stone that is your life and transforms it into a work of art using a chisel and hammer.
You often don’t understand why things happen to you, but you keep going.
And although you put good vibes, the universe continues to sculpt you with hammers.
Clack, Clack, Clack!
And you fall 1000 times and get up 1001.
But the universe doesn’t take pity on you; it keeps on sculpting you.
Clack, clack, clack!
And in the end, you give up, and it is just in that moment of humility when the universe puts down the hammer and chisel and caresses your face and says,
“I had to polish you; I know it hurts, but I’m working with you to make you into something worthy of me.”
And then you understand everything.
On the power of faith
“I’m burning on fire. If anyone lacks firewood, let them light their garbage with my fire.” — Rumi
Love purifies everything like a fire that can use hatred, pain, and misery for fuel and transform it into light.
Indeed, love, especially towards people who get on your nerves, can work miracles.
I know it is difficult, but if you practice empathy, you can heal your life by transforming all the accumulated resentment into energy and burning it with the flame of love that dwells within you.
Love is contagious and spreads like a fire in the middle of a dry forest; just a spark is enough to set the world on fire (in a good way).
In this regard, Rumi wrote, “Alternating with saints makes you a saint. Even if you were made of stone, you would become a jewel once you met the pious. “
So powerful is love that it can transform the sinner into a pillar of his society and set an example to those who lost their way.
Light your inner flame.
On hope.
“Do not wander in the neighborhood of hopelessness, for hope exists. Do not wander in the fog, the sun exists.” — Rumi.
What I am about to tell you is so stupidly obvious that we usually forget it.
Everything has its opposite.
This is a dual world, and for there to be above, there has to be below, and so on.
For darkness to exist, light must exist.
For sadness to exist, joy must exist.
For despair to exist, hope must exist.
However, as the years pass and fate strikes, we become cynical and sour of character. We forget that another life is possible.
But how to get out of despair when everything goes wrong?
By sowing because the law of sowing and reaping always bears fruit.
In the words of Rumi, “If in the name of God, you offer bread, in return you will receive bread. If you offer your life in the name of God, it will be life you get.”
Moral: lead a righteous and virtuous life, and the universe will give you back more of it.
All misery is born of us. But so does all goodness.
If you are generous when you have nothing, the universe will fill you with grace so you can continue to share it with others.
